Use the IP management system to create a new domain in DNS for Georgia Tech.

  1. Login to the DNS management interface at https://gtipam.dns.gatech.edu.
  2. Click on the "DNS" tab at the top, and then go to the cc.gatech.edu subzone (Found under Resource Records at "edu > gatech.edu", and then under Sub Zones as "cc.gatech.edu".) You will need to complete this for both Internal and External DNS view.
  3. Under the Resource Records heading, click on "New" and then "Alias Record (CNAME)".
  4. In the Name field, type just the part of the domain that comes before cc.gatech.edu. For example, type "dev-school", for the domain "dev-school.cc.gatech.edu".
  5. In the Host field, begin typing the name of the server this domain should point towards. The field should automatically offer you matching domains in the drop down box - choose the correct server domain.
  6. Click on the "Add" button at the bottom of the page.
  7. Wait. Campus DNS refreshes on the 15-minute mark (so at 0, 15, 30, and 45 minutes every hour).
  8. Test that your domain exists by pinging it on command line.
